Poll-eve violence
[Letters to the Editor, The Assam Tribune]

Sir,

Poll-eve has always been a risky phase for innocent common people. Shrewd politicians try their evil tricks to come to power. Communal riots, bomb blasts, kidnappings, murders etc normally take place before such power-war. Biswanath Chariali has already dampened the Bihu spirit. Recovery of a bomb near Islampur Masjid in Guwahati city is an early signal. Alertness of the administration and the public can minimise the damage cause to innocent lives and property. The right thinking people should come forward to maintain peace and harmony among different communities and wrong doers should be exposed.

Tea tribes to play crucial role

GOLAGHAT, April 20: Constituting 45 per cent of the total electorate, the tea tribes are going to play a crucial role in the ensuing Assembly poll in 93-Bokakhat Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC). The bewildered electorate
[Letters to the Editor, The Assam Tribune]

Sir,

The Assembly Elections are nearing and gathering momentum. Our political leaders are, day and night, exploring how best the common people, viz the electorate can be puzzled by their tricky alliance or election manifestos which are nothing but election stunt. The behaviour of the political parties, national or regional is aimed at only to capture power by any means throwing all kinds of norms to the winds.

Yours etc., S D CHOUDHURY, Guwahati. [AT]
